I have never used anything but water in my steam mop. From now on I will only use distilled water verses tap water due to mineral deposits in tap. I do spray my mop pad with Lysol at times. Great question you had that I would love to know answer too.

We have NEVER put anything except water into the reservoir on the Shark steam mop. Check your manual or Google it but I'd be very surprised if it's ok to use something other than distilled water.

Yes, you should use the push and pull method to create steam as needed. For tough stains continue to push and pull for additional steam.

answer 3
You definitely want to get the floor wet or it won't come clean - stand back and let light shine on the floor area where you're mopping to see how much water is on the floor. You don't want standing water but about the amount that will air-dry pretty quickly. I'd say "pump as needed."

The heads do offer some swivell motion for easy steering but they do not rotate. The best results come from a back and forth mopping motion.
